What were you trying to do that didn't work?
When printing in duplex mode from Thunderbird or Firefox on HP printers, printed document is always single-sided. Printing with the application specific print menu or system print menu have the same behaviour. It does not occur on RHEL 7.
When printing from command line (lp -o sides=two-sided-long-edge), duplex printing works perfectly.
This could be related to the way Firefox and Thunderbird get printer configuration information from CUPS. There is for instance no such issue when printing from LibreOffice on the same printer.
What is the impact of this issue to you?
All RHEL 9.4 servers (production as well as test systems)
Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen:
thunderbird-128.3.1-1.el9_4.x86_64
firefox-128.3.1-2.el9_4.x86_64
How reproducible is this bug?:
Everytime
Steps to reproduce
- Print a page from Firefox or Thunderbird in two-sided/duplex format
Expected results
The print job issued from FireFox or Thunderbird should print a two-sided/duplex print.
Actual results
When printing from command line (lp -o sides=two-sided-long-edge), duplex printing works perfectly. The issue only occurs when printing from Firefox or Thunderbird. It does not occur when printing for instance from LibreOffice or Evince.
