What were you trying to do that didn't work?
When the screensaver kicks in, it blanks the screen as it should, however, when you return to the console/monitor and move the mouse or click on the keyboard to wake the system back up, you get the login screen and when you type in your password, the desktop shows for about one second, and then flips back to the login screen. This account is now stuck in this infinite loop and there is no way to log back into the account once you are stuck in this state.
What is the impact of this issue to you?
We are now forced to turn Screen Blank to NEVER and disable power saving options until this is fixed.
All of our customers will be forced to turn off power saving display settings until this issue is fixed.
Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen:
RHEL 9.4, GNome Desktop, X11 Windowing system
How reproducible is this bug?:
Every time the screen saver activates
Steps to reproduce
- Set screensaver/power saving option on the desktop.
- Try to wake the machine.
- Enter password and login. This action shows the desktop for a second and then throws the user onto the login screen.
- The only known solution is to reboot the machine and then the user account can be logged into again until the screen saver kicks in again.
Expected results
Even when a screensaver is set, and kicks in; trying to wake the machine and logging in should wok.
Actual results
When the screensaver kicks in, it blanks the screen as it should, however, when you return to the console/monitor and move the mouse or click on the keyboard to wake the system back up, you get the login screen and when you type in your password, the desktop shows for about one second, and then flips back to the login screen.
