      1. Proposed title of this feature request

vsftpd functionality for logging to stdout

      3. What is the nature and description of the request?

The customer would like to have a configuration option available for vsftpd to allow the process to write logs to stdout instead of a file.

      4. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)

So that vsftpd logs can be gathered inside of a podman container and forwarded to a central receiving server.

application logs to stdout -> podman logging driver/mechanism captures it -> when `podman logs` is run, the logging driver is queried to retrieve the copy of stdout from whatever driver is in use (journald, a flat file, splunk, whatever)

      5. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)

By allowing the vsftpd daemon to log to standard out via configuration.

      6. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.

By ensuring the logs can be gathered with `podman logs` when the option is configured.

      7. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?

      Not in Red Hat Bugzilla.

      8. Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL8, RHEL9)?

      As soon as possible.

      9. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?

      No.

      10. List any affected packages or components.

      vsftpd

      11. Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?

      Yes.
