What were you trying to do that didn't work?
As suggested by a networking SPSME:
Leapp should allow ethX naming convention for virtio_net interfaces as naming conflicts will not arise there but it should not allow ethX for other baremetal physical interfaces.
The issue currently happens for 7>8 IPU in the attached case, but raising this bug anyway.
What is the impact of this issue to you?
Cannot upgrade without renaming the NICs
Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen:
all versions
How reproducible is this bug?:
Always
Steps to reproduce
- Using qemu-kvm, define 2 NICs using "virtio", they will use the virtio_net driver.
- Run leapp upgrade
Expected results
No inhibitor for this particular use case.
Actual results
Risk Factor: high (inhibitor) Title: Unsupported network configuration Summary: Detected multiple physical network interfaces where one or more use kernel naming (e.g. eth0). Upgrade process can not continue because stability of names can not be guaranteed. Please read the article at https://access.redhat.com/solutions/4067471 for more information.
