What were you trying to do that didn't work?
Compare the RHEL-9.4 virtio-win version
# cat /etc/redhat-release Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 9.4 (Plow) # dnf list | grep virtio-win virtio-win.noarch 1.9.40-0.el9_4 rhel-9-for-x86_64-appstream-rpms
It is way ahead of the CentOS Stream 9 version
# cat /etc/redhat-release CentOS Stream release 9 # dnf list | grep virtio-win virtio-win.noarch 1.9.15-4.el9 @appstream
This must never happen, CentOS Stream must lead RHEL, not the reverse.
What is the impact of this issue to you?
Upstream application development projects are unable to do correct testing of what will become the next RHEL-9.y update release, using CentOS Stream, as CentOS is behind the RHEL release.
CentOS Stream repos must always contain an NEVR that is either the same as current RHEL-9.y, or newer. CentOS should never be behind RHEL, as that defeats the primary purpose of CentOS as a platform previewing future RHEL.
