User has an issue with a third party terminal emulator, not gnome-terminal,
leaving stray
#2004l
?2004h#
characters in the screen. The issue happens when the terminal type is set
to wyse60-25.
The workaround was to add the line
set enable-bracketed-paste 0
to $HOME/.inputrc
Further debugging the issue, as disabling bracketed paste mode usually
should not be a good idea, it was found that bash disables it for wyse60-25
because the tgetent() call fails in terminal.c:_rl_init_terminal_io().
But it can be made to not fail if installing the ncurses-term package,
that will provide /usr/share/terminfo/w/wyse60-25
What was noticed after installing ncurses-term is that no terminal emulator
in standard rhel has the issue (gnome-terminal, konsole and xterm), but
they have other issues, like:
o command clear does not clean the screen
o scrow up/down does not clear to end of line.
o command "tput cup 0 0" only moves to the start of the line
Maybe wyse60-25 is a "true tty" that mimics a line printer...
Also, probably the user is using a third party terminal emulator because
standard/common terminals do not provide proper wyse60-25 emulation.
