What were you trying to do that didn't work?
While encrypting of emails is possible with CAC, thunderbird refuses to decrypt emails, even when per-requisite packages are installed.
Please provide the package NVR for which bug is seen:
      thunderbird-115.14.0-1.el8_10.x86_64
      gnupg2-2.2.20-3.el8_6.x86_64
      gnupg2-smime-2.2.20-3.el8_6.x86_64
      How reproducible:
Customer this is filed for is able to reproduce consistently. I am unable to perform reproduction tests on my end for this behavior.
      Steps to reproduce
      1. Encrypt email using CAC card in thunderbird.
      2. Using same CAC card, attempt to decrypt the email that was encrypted.
      3. Observe behavior.

      Expected results
Email is successfully decrypted using the same CAC card that was used to encrypt.
      Actual results
CAC card is unable to decrypt the email that said card was used to encrypt.
