virt-v2v 2.6 (new stable version) will be released upstream in October 2024.

We are currently maintaining an old version with many downstream patches.

As the new version is backwards compatible and fixes many bugs, it makes sense to and is safe to update to the new version when it is released. This will also reduce the number of versions that we have to test across RHEL 9/10.
