What were you trying to do that didn't work?

Installing WIndows XP with q35 machine type does not work.

Please provide the package NVR for which bug is seen:

This is dependant on the machine type. It still works with i440fx and stopped working with q35-2.11 machine type. (q35-2.10 still works)

      How reproducible:

Try installing Windows XP SP3 with current q35 machine-type.

      Steps to reproduce

      Expected results

Windows XP (although no longer supported) should not bail out with that ACPI error.

      Actual results

ACPI error from Windows XP - workaround is to disable the ACPI based HAL and use the Standard HAL during installation, which later on does not allow to poweroff a VM anymore - it just halts.
