What were you trying to do that didn't work?
Disable the tracker miner services via the following KCS: https://access.redhat.com/solutions/3364861
As well as additional steps involving masking the tracker-miner-* service
This did not disable the tracker-miner* services as they would pop back up again after a re/boot/start of the system/user.
This was even after masking services on a "per-user" basis.
Please provide the package NVR for which bug is seen:
tracker-miners
How reproducible:
Very
Steps to reproduce
- Try to disable the tracker miner by both masking the service unit files.
- Reboot machine
- Services still continue to run despite service unit files being masked.
Expected results
Any "tracker-miner" processes should not be running
Actual results
This works until the next re-start then the services associated with "tracker-miner" seem to pop back up and continue to run.
Additional Note(s):
Ideally there should be a "single point of disabling" that is system-wide for clients who wish to disable this part of gnome even though it may potentially break other parts of gnome functionality.
If the gnome tracker-miners cannot be controlled by the systemd service unit files then why have them start/stop via unit files if masking them has no effect?
