What were you trying to do that didn't work?
I am from Microsoft, and we are working towards bringing RHEL 9.0/9.2 to production to support SAP installation on Azure via ACSS platform.
During our E2E test, we found that chkconfg install is getting failed for RHEL 9.0/RHEL 9.2 with below error-
Error Logs-
"Created symlink /etc/systemd/system/sockets.target.wants/uuidd.socket → /usr/lib/systemd/system/uuidd.socket.",
"Error: unpacking of archive failed on file /etc/init.d: cpio: File from package already exists as a directory in system",
"Error: chkconfig-1.20-2.el9.x86_64: install failed"
Upon investigations, we found that, Red hat in recent past has published paper for the same with workaround, Link - Installing chkconfig package failed with 'Error unpacking rpm package' - Red Hat Customer Portal
We have couple of questions -
1. what brings this issue in recent image for RHEL 9.0. /RHEL 9.2, Our SDAF team has not seen this issue in last successful installations.
2. Do we have any permanent fix rather than adapting manually.
3. As of today, Azure policy is placing azuremonitoragent files in there ( /etc/init.d) and we don't know the implications at the moment.
Needed to understand on this front and path forward. Looking forward for a response.
Thank You!
