What were you trying to do that didn't work?
When a RHEL-10 installation is executed with a kickstart file containing a vnc command, Anaconda just ignores it. This can be confusing, especially for users how may not be aware of the switchover from VNC to RDP for remote graphical installations.
It would be useful if Anaconda printed a warning message about the vnc command being deprecated and instructed the user to use inst.rdp kernel commandline parameter instead if there's a need for a remote GUI installation.
Please provide the package NVR for which bug is seen:
anaconda-40.22.3.8-1.el10 (RHEL-10.0-20240717.79)
How reproducible:
Always.
Steps to reproduce
- Start RHEL-10 installation using a kickstart containing vnc command.
Expected results
Anaconda at least displays a warning message that the vnc command has been deprecated, but it's possible to use RDP (via inst.rdp, inst.rdp.username and inst.rdp.password on kernel command line). Ideally it also provides options to continue in text or RDP mode right away, as is the case when Wayland/gnome-kiosk fails to start.
Actual results
Anaconda just ignores the vnc command and doesn't display any related warning.
