      1. Proposed title of this feature request

[RFE] - Include sasl-xoauth2 as a package in RHEL

      2. Who is the customer behind the request?

Proactive RFE.  See non-exhaustive list cases linked to [KCS - Basic Authentication will be turned off in Exchange Online.](https://access.redhat.com/solutions/6981478).

      3. What is the nature and description of the request?

From [Microsoft - Exchange Online to retire Basic auth for Client Submission (SMTP AUTH)](https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/exchange-online-to-retire-basic-auth-for-client-submission-smtp/ba-p/4114750)

          > Today, we are announcing that Exchange Online will permanently remove support for Basic authentication with Client Submission (SMTP AUTH) in September 2025.

From [Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 2134519 - Juan Manuel Santos](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2134519) emphasis added

          > Adding it to EPEL would be a huge leap forward, as we would at least have something for customers that is more or less official/tested, even if not fully supported. *Plus, we would be in a good spot if Microsoft/Google suddenly decided to no longer offer support for basic authentication.* I guess once it's in EPEL we can review the SELinux side of things to find out whether it can be added to selinux-policy-targeted or in a separate, Postfix-related package.

          From [Bug 2134516 - [RFE] Add cyrus-sasl-xoauth2 as a package (edit)](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2134516)

          > This was done some time ago. We did sasl-xoauth2 package though as we got reports that this is working better for our customers:
          > The package is no awailable in Fedora and EPEL8/9:
          > Closing as done.

      4. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)

Many customers send email from RHEL OS to Microsoft 365.  Microsoft is going to disable basic auth for SMTP.  oauth2 is now the supported authentication for SMTP.

      5. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)

Include EPEL package sasl-xoauth2 in RHEL

      6. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.

sasl-xoauth2 to be tested against Microsoft 365

      7. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?

           - [Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 2134519 - Juan Manuel Santos](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2134519)
          - [Bug 2134516 - [RFE] Add cyrus-sasl-xoauth2 as a package (edit)](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2134516)

      8. Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL8, RHEL9)?

          Before September 2025

      9. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?

          No

      10. List any affected packages or components.

          N/A

      11. Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?

          N/A
