Description of problem:
Running an RHEL 9 system as a jump box on a KVM host. Graphical display works when VM is booted however, if I leave the display unattended for a while, it turns off and can not be activated again either using Spice via virt-manager or using VNC (Connections or other apps). I can still connect to the VM via ssh.
Other guests do not have this problem including text-based RHEL or other Linux VMs or, graphically, MS Windows
This was also a problem in RHEL 8.x but has now become more important for me as I may need to deploy a similar RHEL 9 server in a production network and will need properly functioning remote display capability.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Unsure of what is relevant, as I haven't seen any helpful log messages but here's Gnome versions, if they help:
[root@skinny tony]# gdm --version
GDM 40.1
[root@skinny tony]# gnome-shell --version
GNOME Shell 40.9
Maybe this will also help:
[root@skinny tony]# dnf list installed | grep wayland
gnome-session-wayland-session.x86_64 40.1.1-6.el9 @System
libwayland-client.x86_64 1.19.0-4.el9 @System
libwayland-cursor.x86_64 1.19.0-4.el9 @System
libwayland-egl.x86_64 1.19.0-4.el9 @System
libwayland-server.x86_64 1.19.0-4.el9 @System
xorg-x11-server-Xwayland.x86_64 21.1.3-2.el9 @System
[root@skinny tony]#
