1. Proposed title of this feature request
OAuth2 smartcard support for Webkit-GTK
3. What is the nature and description of the request?
Customer: "Please add support to the Evolution mail client so that it supports
smartcard authentication via OAuth2."
4. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
Customer needs this to meet smartcard-based authentication requirements for their organization.
5. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
Customer: "It should be just a case of WebKit-GTK being updated so that it
understands how to authenticate using PKCS11 smartcard devices. The
WebKit developer believes that backend smartcard (PKCS11 devices)
support is already there via GNUTls (or historically glib-networking)
and that smartcard should start working once WebKit-GTK implements
client side authentication (as described by the WebKit-GTK developer)."
6. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.
Customer: "If WebKit-GTK is updated to support smartcards it should be possible to test both via Evolution, using Oauth2 for an account."
7. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?
Not as of time of posting.
8. Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL5, RHEL6)?
Ideally, this RFE would target the next RHEL 7 release.
9. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?
Sales is not involved at this time, though customer will be engaging their sales representatives on this request in the near future.
10. List any affected packages or components.
webkitgtk4, webkitgtk4-jsc
11. Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?
Yes.
