What were you trying to do that didn't work ?

During OS installation using RHEL 8.10 and RHEL 9.4 ISO if we select we disable kdump service during installation, post OS installation we see that the service is still kept enabled.

Here also though the service startup failed because the "crashkernel" parameter it still actually not in disable state.

      # systemctl status kdump -l --no-pager
      ○ kdump.service - Crash recovery kernel arming
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/kdump.service; enabled; preset: enabled)
           Active: inactive (dead)

                   └─ ConditionKernelCommandLine=crashkernel was not met
Jun 13 19:25:11 localhost.localdomain systemd[1]: Crash recovery kernel arming was skipped because of an unmet condition check (ConditionKernelCommandLine=crashkernel).

This happens in both RHEL 8.10 and RHEL 9.4

The anaconda syslog logs on RHEL 9.4 suggest that its disable (Editted)

I have tagged both products RHEL 8.10 and RHEL 9.4 to this bug but I understand that RHEL 8.10 was the final release so its might not be possible to change this in RHEL 8.10

Please provide the package NVR for which bug is seen:

      Anaconda RHEL 8.10 DVD

      Anaconda RHEL 9.4 DVD

      How reproducible:

      Everytime

      Steps to reproduce

      1. During GUI installation uncheck the enable kdump in the kdump spoke
      2. Continue with the installation.
      3. Post installation check the state of the kdump service and see that its enabled "systemctl status kdump"

      Expected results

We expect kdump service is disabled completely.

      Actual results

kdump service is enabled (although it still does not start because crashkernel parameter is missing)
