Switch Anaconda remote UI connection protocol from VNC to RDP

      .Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) replaces VNC for graphical remote access

      The protocol for graphical remote access has been replaced from VNC to remote desktop protocol (RDP), a more robust, and secure graphical remote access. It offers a reliable and encrypted connection, overcoming the limitations of VNC, which lacked encryption support and enforced password length restrictions.

      You can now securely connect to graphical installation sessions. As part of this change, the `inst.vnc`, `inst.vncpassword`, and `inst.vncconnect` kernel boot options have been removed and the new options `inst.rdp`, `inst.rdp.password`, and `inst.rdp.username` have been introduced.

      Anaconda is blocking xorg-server removal from RHEL-10 for multiple reasons where one of it is dependency on xorg-server package. For this reason the Anaconda team needs to migrate away and switch to a new recommended solution of RDP protocol.

       

      Goal

      • Unblock xorg-server removal from RHEL-10 by removal of tiger-vnc which is used by Anaconda for remote VNC connection to the installation.
        • As a developer of xorg-server, I want to switch users to more secure and better Wayland and drop necessary maintenance of xorg-server.

      Acceptance Criteria

      Anaconda will not depend on tiget-vnc and will instead use recommended solution of RDP.

      • Verify that RPD client is able to connect to running installation.
      • Verify that tiger-vnc is no longer a dependency of Anaconda.
