      What were you trying to do that didn't work?

      Please provide the package NVR for which bug is seen:

      [root@el10 0l-linear]# rpm -q mdadm
      mdadm-4.3-1.el10.x86_64

      How reproducible:

      Steps to reproduce

      1. [root@el10 0l-linear]# mdadm -CR /dev/md0 -l linear -n2 /dev/loop1 /dev/loop2
        mdadm: /dev/loop1 appears to be part of a raid array:
               level=linear devices=2 ctime=Fri Apr 19 15:29:06 2024
        mdadm: /dev/loop2 appears to be part of a raid array:
               level=linear devices=2 ctime=Fri Apr 19 15:29:06 2024
        mdadm: Defaulting to version 1.2 metadata
        mdadm: RUN_ARRAY failed: Invalid argument
        [root@el10 0l-linear]# rpm -q mdadm
        mdadm-4.3-1.el10.x86_64

      Expected results

      linear device created. without error.

      Or

      If not support linear anymore please gives out more clear error message.

      Actual results

      Got error, linear device didn't created.
