Description of problem:
Xapplications are not initiating randomly on direct system console.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.9 (Maipo)
xterm-295-3.el7_9.1
How reproducible:
Always (randomly)
Steps to Reproduce:
1) Login to Gnome Desktop Environment (Gnome Classic)
2) Login as a normal user, open gnome-terminal, then start xterm from gnome-terminal.
3) If xterm comes up, log out and start over again until xterm does not come up.
Sometimes takes 25-30 tries, but it eventually happens.
I was able to reproduce this a few times on freshly installed RHEL 7.9 system, took me 25+ attempts each time.
Not reproducible over RHEL 8 and RHEL 9.
Actual results:
Xterm does not initiate randomly.
Expected results:
Xterm should initiate always.
