Description of problem:
Audio files using DVI ADPCM WAV (in general) or ADPCM IMA WAV (downsampled to 8bit) experience behavior where the audio keeps skipping. This is observed in applications such as totem and rhythmbox (which use gstreamer), but not in applications such as sox and audacious (which do not).
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
The customer and I were able to observe behavior on gstreamer1-1.16.1-2.el8.x86_64.
How reproducible:
With files encoded in DVI ADPCM WAV, consistently. ADPCM IMA WAV works correctly in 16 and 32bit, but only observes the issue when downsampled down to 8-bit.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. For DVI ADPCM, create file with that particular encoding.
For ADPCM IMA, create 16 or 32 bit audio file then downsample to 8 bit using ffmpeg.
2. Play audio in application that uses gstreamer1.
3. Observe behavior.
4. Play audio in application that dos not use gstreamer1.
5. Observe behavior.
Actual results:
Audio skips forward every few moments.
Expected results:
Audio file plays normally.
