Our machine type support policy is to only keep machine types from the most recent previous version of RHEL.
In RHEL-9 we deprecated every machine type from RHEL-8 and earlier
In RHEL-10 we should remove all these deprecated machine types.
The slightly awkward thing is that this removes pc-i440fx-rhel7.4.0 which is the historical default machine type for QEMU, expanded from 'pc'.
This implies that 'q35' will become the default machine type in RHEL-10, which has potential to break applications that assume use of PCI, not PCI-e, or assume availability of IDE rather than SATA. In theory all virt apps we know about have been fixed long ago, but ad-hoc scripts people have that use KVM may well break.
