What were you trying to do that didn't work?
A .desktop file placed on a location other than the desktop cannot be started.
Using a self-made .desktop file, but we can't start it on RHEL 9(it is started by TextEditor by default) in any Nautilus location. In RHEL 8, it’s possible to start it no matter where it was placed by supporting things like ‘Allow Launching’.
How can I set it up to start a .desktop file that is located somewhere other than the desktop?
Please provide the package NVR for which bug is seen:
RHEL 9.
How reproducible:
Easy.
Steps to reproduce
1. We can find the default .desktop files on /usr/share/applications/.
2. They cannot be started on the Nautilus directly. Even if you copy them to another location, they cannot be started too.
3. This behavior is not the same as in RHEL 8.
Expected results
One of my customers wants to run these .desktop files directly on the Nautilus.
Actual results
We can't start the .desktop on any Nautilus location in RHEL 9.
