What were you trying to do that didn't work?
Partner reported that after waking up from S3 with power button failed to wake up the network card, type Onlogic Karbon HX 300.
Details aside, it was assumed that the cause was a bug in Gnome, so at one
point we tested if the upcoming RHEL versions 8.9 and 9.3 fixed the issue.
While the test on CentosStream9 was successful, testing the latest
RHEL8.9 build on the same machine, we didn't succeed in making the power
button behave correctly.
After booting into RHEL8.9, we did this (just as on CentOS9):
- systemctl set-default graphical.target
- systemctl isolate graphical.target
- login to GNOME
- check in gnome-control-center that the power button is set to "Suspend"
- Press the power button.
At this point, the system shuts down. It does NOT suspend.
After rebooting, we tried again 2 times, with the same result:
The system shuts down on pressing the power button, albeit being set
to "Suspend".
Please provide the package NVR for which bug is seen:
gnome-desktop3-3.32.2-3.el8
How reproducible:
Apparently always, at least on the test machine
onlogic-karbon-hx310-01.knqe.lab.eng.bos.redhat.com
Steps to reproduce
- Install RHEL 8.9
- Perform the necessary steps to enable the Gnome GUI
- systemctl set-default graphical.target
- systemctl isolate graphical.target
- login to GNOME
- check in gnome-control-center that the power button is set to "Suspend"
- Press power button
Expected results
Machine goes into Suspend
Actual results
Machine shuts down
