In glibc development, we use upstream commit messages as part of patch files. Most of these are indented by four spaces because they have been generated by git show. However, GNU patch still picks up diffs from those commit messages. We would like to have a way to tell rpmbuild not to pick up these, and the first step is to be able to tell patch not to do this.
