A new dlinfo request type RTLD_DI_ORIGIN_PATH was implemented via RHEL-54450 to replace RTLD_DI_ORIGIN. For future glibc versions, we should deprecate RTLD_DI_ORIGIN itself now that a safer alternative exists. This needs to happen upstream first so it makes it to a future RHEL version (via e.g. c11s) and optionally we could consider it for backport to c10s. This issue tracks the upstream work and any follow up RHEL work towards this deprecation. A first version of the patch has already been posted upstream at https://inbox.sourceware.org/libc-alpha/20260126162522.3077576-1-arjun@redhat.com/ and needs a v2 and further review.
