Customer Requirement:
- The customer requires an updated version of the awscli2 package to be made available in the YUM repository.
- The current version in the repo is outdated and does not support the latest OpenSSL libraries provided by the same repository.
**
Reason for Requirement:
- During system updates (dnf update / yum update), OpenSSL is upgraded to a newer version.
- The existing awscli2 package is too old to work with this updated OpenSSL version.
- As a result, AWS operations fail—specifically kubectl access to AWS EKS clusters—until the customer manually downgrades OpenSSL. - This workaround is neither secure nor operationally sustainable.
**
Impact on Customer:
- Breaks EKS authentication workflows.
- Interrupts automation, CI/CD operations, and cluster management tasks.
- Forces the customer to apply insecure or manual workarounds (OpenSSL downgrade).
- Prevents systems from staying fully patched.
