What were you trying to do that didn't work?
Attempting to install or update the package tigervnc-selinux-1.13.1-8.el9_4.8.noarch on a RHEL 9.4 EUS system. The update fails due to unmet selinux-policy dependencies.
What is the impact of this issue to you?
The package cannot be installed or updated. This blocks system updates and disrupts normal patching workflows for customers using RHEL 9.4 EUS. It may also create update inconsistencies across environments.
Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen:
tigervnc-selinux-1.13.1-8.el9_4.8.noarch
How reproducible is this bug?:
Always reproducible on RHEL 9.4 EUS.
Steps to reproduce
- On a RHEL 9.4 EUS system[Release set to 9.4], download tigervnc-selinux-1.13.1-8.el9_4.8.noarch.rpm.
- Run
rpm -qp --requires tigervnc-selinux-1.13.1-8.el9_4.8.noarch.rpm
- Note the dependency:
selinux-policy >= 38.1.35-2.el9_4.6
selinux-policy-base >= 38.1.35-2.el9_4.6
- Check available selinux-policy versions in RHEL 9.4 EUS.
Latest available is selinux-policy-38.1.35-2.el9_4.4.noarch. - Attempt installation or update:
yum update tigervnc-selinux
- Dependency resolution fails.
Expected results
The tigervnc-selinux package should install or update successfully using selinux-policy packages available in the same RHEL 9.4 EUS stream.
Actual results
Update or installation fails because the required selinux-policy and selinux-policy-base versions (38.1.35-2.el9_4.6) are not yet available in RHEL 9.4 EUS.
