What were you trying to do that didn't work?

I was trying to migrate a vm that has a raw disk image on shared storage and a qcow2 overlay on RWO storage.

The migration failed with error: "Migration without shared storage is unsafe".

What is the impact of this issue to you?

I am implementing a feature for kubevirt that uses qcow2 overlay which in most cases will exist in a RWO filesystem pvc. With this issue migrating vms with such overlay will fail.

Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen:

      libvirt 10.10.0-13.el9
      qemu 9.1.0-19.el9

      How reproducible is this bug?:

      100%

      Steps to reproduce

      1. Create a vm with raw disk on shared storage with qcow2 overlay on rwo storage
      2. start migration
      3.

      Expected results

      Migration to succeed

      Actual results

Migration failed with "Migration without shared storage is unsafe" error
