      Steps to reproduce

If Kea is configured to write logs to syslog:foo (where foo is a syslog facility identifier), Kea will write to a file /var/log/kea/syslog:foo, rather than to syslog as intended. Any explicit facility specification causes the problem.

This bug was introduced with the May 2025 security (CVE) releases of Kea: 2.4.2 or 2.6.3 or 2.7.9

      see:

      https://gitlab.isc.org/isc-projects/kea/-/issues/3921

      Expected results

      write to syslog

      Actual results

      writes to /var/log/kea/syslog:facility
