Seen at least on RHEL 10, seems to work but still the error should be avoided:
root@rhel-10-secure:~# crontab -e no crontab for root - using an empty one crontab: installing new crontab root@rhel-10-secure:~# crontab -e crontab: installing new crontab /root/.cache/crontab: mkdir: No such file or directory
