What were you trying to do that didn't work?

We are trying to provide new functionality for Podman called "Reproducible Container Builds", as requested by the Image mode team.  On RHEL 10.1, this new functionality works well.  However, on RHEL 9.7, it does not.  rhn-engineering-nalin has (see first comment) it down to a PR that needs to be backported to RHEL 9.7, https://github.com/rpm-software-management/rpm/pull/1803/ which should allow this new functioality to work.

Can this backport happen before GA in a few weeks?

What is the impact of this issue to you?  Podman v5.6 will function differently depending on which version of RHEL it is run on.

Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen: Unknown

      Steps to reproduce

      1. See first comment, it's difficult for us to give you a way to test this fully, but we are willing to help with the testing if you can get a backport put together that we can test on RHEL 9.7.
