What were you trying to do that didn't work?
The configuration parameter "memberOfDeferredUpdate" was introduced in RHEL 9.6 to improve the LDAP server performance when dealing with large static groups.
Enabling this parameter is only helpful with Berkeley DB.
If enabled, it should not be taken into account when using LMDB.
What is the impact of this issue to you?
A customer had seen a hang issue while using LMDB and memberOfDeferredUpdate was enabled.
Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen:
grep ^389-ds <SOS_REPORT>/installed-rpms 389-ds-base-2.6.1-6.el9_6.x86_64 Sun May 25 15:39:51 2025 389-ds-base-libs-2.6.1-6.el9_6.x86_64 Sun May 25 15:39:44 2025
How reproducible is this bug?:
The hang issue is no longer observed since memberOfDeferredUpdate was disabled on the servers using LMDB.
Steps to reproduce
Was a 1 time event at a customer site.
Expected results
No LDAP hang.
Actual results
Unresponsive LDAP server.
