The introduction of _r_debug interposition support removed some calls to _dl_debug_state as the result of inlining. Debuggers are expected to set a breakpoint on this function to receive notifications, but this no longer works. We do not see this with system GDB because it uses the Systemtap probe interface, not _dl_debug_state. However, dyninst and stap --dyninst are broken without this fix.
