Description of Problem:
When stopping rhsmcertd service via systemd, it resports a successful automatic registration at the same timestamp of service termination.
This occurs even though no action is in process for automatic registration (with splay=1 and autoreg interval set to default of 60 minutes).
Please provide the package NVR for which bug is seen:
subscription-manager-1.30.6-1.el10_0.x86_64
subscription-manager-1.29.45-1.el9.x86_64
How reproducible
Always
Is this a regression issue:
AFAIK, Yes - but it exists in RHEL 9 + 10
Steps to Reproduce
- systemctl start rhsmcertd
- systemctl stop rhsmcertd
- cat /var/log/rhsm/rhsmcertd.log
Actual Behavior
False auto-reg success msg prints in rhsmcertd.log when stopping rhsmcertd.service
2025-07-01T14:07:31.638+00:00 [INFO] (Auto-registration) performed successfully. 2025-07-01T14:07:31.638+00:00 [INFO] rhsmcertd is shutting down...
Expected Behavior
rhsmcertd should just report its shutdown message, no false statements.
