Story Description / Context

• OpenShift Pipelines is migrating metrics collection from OpenCensus to OpenTelemetry.

• This will cause breaking changes in metric names.

• Customers must be informed in 1.20 release notes so they can prepare before the 1.21 upgrade.

• The development team will provide a component-wise list of metrics whose names will change.

Documentation Scope

1.20 Release Notes (Advance Notice)

• Add a Breaking Change – Advance Notice section.

• Explain that OpenCensus metrics will be replaced with OpenTelemetry metrics starting in 1.21.

• Include the component-wise list of metrics (to be supplied by the development team).

• Inform customers that dashboards, alerts, and monitoring integrations depending on old names will break.
