Goals

Provide an alternative to fluentd for forwarding logs to a syslog output.

Motivation

We want customers to use vector as their log collection agent since this will be the one which we promote over all others. Currently we can only offer fluentd because vector has no support for writing to syslog sinks

Acceptance Criteria

• Verify existing fluentd syslog forwarding can be upgraded to vector without regression

Documentation Considerations

• Update feature matrix to identify vector support of syslog sink
• Update feature matrix to identify the versions against which we are testing
