As part of the effort to maintain the operational costs of our AWS RDS instances, we have evaluated the usage of our database instances, their storage, cost efficiency, and performance. As a result of this analysis, we recommend the following changes:
*Current State:*
- *Instance Name:* `kessel-relations-stage`
- *Current Instance Type:* `db.m7g.large`
- *Current Storage:* `240 GiB`
- *Current Storage Type:* `gp3`
*Current usage:*
- CPU utilization: `4.00%`
- Used storage: `114 GiB`
*New recommended state:*
1. *Right-Sizing:*
- *Recommended New Instance Type:* `db.t4g.medium`
2. *Storage Optimization:* - *Recommended New Storage:* `140 GiB`
- *Recommended New Storage Type:* `gp3`
An easy way to update both the database instance and storage without an outage is to use a Blue/Green Deployment via app-interface.
