Purpose (The Why):
- The Hybrid Cloud Console (HCC) platform follows specific UXD guidelines that must be followed by each app team that integrates with the platform. This ensures that Red Hat is providing a consistent user experience for our customers, no matter which applications, services, or tools they engage with.
- All UX designers working on apps residing on console.redhat.com collaborate and share guidelines, design ideas, and domain knowledge. In general, we are each responsible for a primary app (or more!), but contribute to a cross-app consistency effort and often to the platform by working on a function the entire platform may eventually share.
Responsible:
- App Team Product Manager, App Team UX Designer
Consulted:
- Any App Team FE Developers or Architects
Next task:
- Collaborate with other UX Designers working on HCC apps.
Deliverable/Competition criteria:
- Complete the following tasks:
- Learn about the capabilities the platform offers to apps.
- Important: if you are working on an application or data service (aka, Cloud Services), you’ll also need to follow the guidance in Joining Application & Data Services? Additional onboarding for app services apps..
- Complete the “What <app name> needs form console.redhat.com” slide deck template so you can communicate the foundational information about how you believe your app will integrate with the HCC platform.
- Schedule a 30-minute, cross-functional kickoff/working session with the following individuals:
- Platform UXD: Kendra Marchant
- Platform Product Management: Kathryn Dixon (who will identify the appropriate HCC Project Manager or Engineers.)
- Include any team members from your cross-functional team who will want to discuss the deck’s content (developer team leads, your Product Manager[s], etc.)
Review the slide deck that you filled out in step #2 above. Consider adding user stories to your app team’s Jira to ensure you inform the platform experience team about design decisions you’ve made.
- Request kmarchan (UXD) add you to the bi-weekly Design Share meetings.
Expected duration/effort:
- Varies depending on UXD requirements for your application on HCC.
Due Date:
- At the beginning of the integration effort.

Exception Process:
- There are no exception processes to this step. It must be completed if there are any UX elements in your application.
