In order to support a critical CNV performance feature (https://issues.redhat.com/browse/CNV-76448#), we have a requirement to include the numad package in RHCOS by default.
Based on engineering advice (internal slack thread: https://redhat-internal.slack.com/archives/C999USB0D/p1768398727845159) I first created an upstream issue:
https://github.com/coreos/fedora-coreos-tracker/issues/2096
However this new package request has not received any community feedback (positive or negative) for a few weeks now, and given it is not a blocking requirement, I am now opening this RFE tracker.
Package details:
numad
Size : 57160
No direct dependencies are required. This package is included in the normal RHEL BaseOS repo.
Note: however it could also be very useful to include numactl (+ numactl-libs dependency) so that commands such as numastat could be issued to see running process placement behavior.
