Verizon Far Edge are using Red Hats solution for RAN site deployments using Image based install (operator) via gitops. Verizons flow is as follows:
Flow:
- Pre install at factory
- ISO is generated
- Server is pre-installed using the ISO
- Server shuts down on successful pre-install
- Server is either:
- Shipped to site
- Placed on a shelf until needed in the field
- Production site:
- IBI of the CaaS
- Prior to installation:
- Validations run by Verizon’s automation system using a “skinny OS”
- Check for BIOS settings, network reachability
- Check for successful IBI factory pre-install
-
-
-
-
-
-
- OCP Version
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- ISO pre-install was “successful”
-
-
-
-
-
- Complete installation
Given the servers are pre-installed and shelved, it is pertinent to validate that prior to IBI at the production site that the server has the correct OCP version being pre-installed and that the factory pre-install had been successful.
