Allow OpenShift Installer on Nutanix IPI to reuse existing images
What is the nature and description of the request?
When performing an IPI installation of OpenShift on Nutanix, the installer uploads images to Prism Central. In environments with multiple Nutanix clusters, including field sites with limited bandwidth, this results in long upload times because Prism Central distributes the images to all clusters. The installer times out after ~10 minutes, even though the image upload eventually completes. On restart, the installer does not detect the existing image and re-uploads it, leading to repeated timeouts and unnecessary bandwidth usage.
Why customer need this feature:
1] Enable the installer to detect and reuse already uploaded images instead of re-uploading.
2] Alternatively, provide an option to assign generic (non-unique) categories to uploaded images, so that Nutanix image placement policies can be used to control where images are distributed.
This would prevent repeated timeouts in low-bandwidth scenarios and allow more efficient image management.
