1. Proposed title of this feature request
Automatic synchronization of OpenShift Groups to Red Hat Quay.
2. What is the nature and description of the request?
Support for automatic synchronization of OpenShift Groups with Red Hat Quay. This should function similarly to how OpenShift groups are already synchronized with Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security (ACS), where groups defined in OpenShift (backed by identity provider) are automatically reflected in ACS. The same capability in Quay would remove the need for manual group creation or custom API integrations.
3. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
- Customer operates Quay as a shared container registry service across a large customer base, with frequent onboarding and offboarding of teams and users.
- Current manual steps in the Quay UI (or custom automation via APIs) are not scalable and introduce operational overhead.
- Lack of automatic synchronization increases the risk of inconsistent RBAC configurations and delays when new users or groups require access.
- A native synchronization would ensure alignment between OpenShift tenancy and Quay permissions, improving both security and developer experience.
- By eliminating the need for parallel user/group management systems, we achieve efficiency, consistency, and compliance across our platform services.
