      1. Proposed title of this feature request

      CoreDNS hosts plugin with MicroShift

      2. What is the nature and description of the request?

Ability to include the /etc/hosts or similar file (depends on the admin) from the rhel host to the MicroShift Core DNS instance using the "hosts plugin".

The MicroShift when starting will check the config, similar to this:

      dns:
         hosts:
         - hosts.default

The binary will include those files into the "configmap/dns-default" in the "openshift-dns" , mount them to the DNS DaemonSet in "/etc/coredns/hosts.d" directory, and edit the Corefile in the configmap to include:

              hosts /etc/coredns/hosts.d/hosts.default

      3. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)

"We can not resolve hosts from the LAN withing the workloads on Microshift."

      4. List any affected packages or components.

      • coredns
      • microshift
