1. Proposed title of this feature request
Enable the must-gather-clean tool to be a commercially supported tool for obfuscated log handling in all OpenShift environments. Previous Jiras (https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RFE-1152) are either unresolved or abandoned for over a year (https://issues.redhat.com/browse/CFE-53) which detail this topic, hence this new RFE.
2. What is the nature and description of the request?
must-gather-clean provides a best-effort approach to data obfuscation, but it does not guarantee that such obfuscation provides complete coverage of all such data in the archive, or that any obfuscation is provided to data that does not fit the description here
Does not instill customer confidence or assurance. Several requirements from our partner:
- Commercially supported tool by Red Hat that has a regular RFE and requirements process, and has support by CNxO / CEE.
- Mask IP address, Mac address, user names
- TBD
3. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
The partner has requested that Red Hat help obfuscate customer sensitive data after log collection to comply with regulations. The must-gather-clean tool presently fulfills part of this request, but is a non-commercially supported (by Red Hat) tool presently.
The partner (who has an embedded relationship with Red Hat, where the partner does L1/L2 support) has stated that they will not be able to share customer logs with Red Hat for L3 support. This increases our support burden without appropriate logs.
