- Proposed title of this feature request:
Provide metrics around connectivity between controlplane and dataplane. - What is the nature and description of the request?
As an SRE I would like metrics that can proactively inform us, when there are problems with the connections between the controlplane and the dataplane of a HCP cluster.
This can tackle multiple different angles:
- Expose metrics in konnectivity that show if connections from the controlplane to the dataplane are working as expected or there are errors.
- Expose metrics in the dataplane to track if connecting back to the controlplane is working as expected or there are errors.
- Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
This RFE is created as a follow up of https://issues.redhat.com/browse/OCPBUGS-37486 which we did not detect proactively, when - during an upgrade - connections from the dataplane to the controlplane broke down, due to an unexpected configuration in the HostedCluster CR. - List any affected packages or components.
This should affect the Konnectivity pods to expose metrics there.
It probably should also affect the proxy pods on the dataplane if we expose metrics in those.
