1. Proposed title of this feature request
-> Allow Customization of Swap File Allocation for OCP VMs on VMware
2. What is the nature and description of the request?
-> The request is to introduce a feature in the OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) installer that allows administrators to customize or disable the allocation of additional swap file space on VMware virtual machines (VMs). Currently, when OCP VMs are deployed on VMware, the installer automatically adds swap file space equivalent to the VM's RAM, which increases the total disk size. This feature would provide an option to either disable the automatic swap file creation or specify a custom swap size, aligning with the customer’s storage optimization strategies.
3. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
- Optimize Storage Usage: Eliminating unnecessary swap file allocation reduces disk space consumption, leading to cost savings and more efficient storage management.
- Custom Performance Management: Allows customization of swap space according to specific workload requirements, improving VM performance and resource allocation.
- Increased Flexibility and Control: Provides customers with greater control over VM configurations, aligning with internal IT policies and compliance requirements.
- Simplified Management: Reduces administrative overhead by simplifying storage management and aligning resources with organizational needs.
4. List any affected packages or components.
