While RHDE enables the direct execution of VMs on libvirt atop the operating system, this approach presents several challenges. A prominent issue we've identified is the lack of a comprehensive solution for managing VMs at scale, including observability. This limitation renders RHDE unsuitable for use cases where customers require the deployment of VMs alongside traditional and/or containerized applications, a scenario frequently encountered in our prospect base.

With our forthcoming support for ACM for workloads on Microshift, integrating support for kubevirt becomes a strategic step in bridging this gap. By embracing kubevirt, we can leverage ACM's management and observability capabilities to orchestrate VMs alongside containerized applications. This integration will empower us to offer a holistic solution capable of handling VMs at scale, particularly in edge computing environments.
