1. Proposed title of this feature request
- Improve OADP manager control loop to avoid seg fault with CloudStorage and Restic enabled
2. What is the nature and description of the request?
- In the context of a known limitation, where we can't have CloudStorage and Restic enabled together, currently, the openshift-adp-controller-manager reaches a seg fault / Crashloop state
- This request is focused on improving how the operator currently handles such configuration (i.e. the goal would be for the operator to not crash but, otherwise, recognize the incompatible configuration and properly notify the customers somehow, like through the operator's logs)
3. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
- Improve the current CX around the OADP operator
4. List any affected packages or components.
- openshift-adp-controller-manager
Additional note: as a result of the above-mentioned OADP-1054, currently, the documentation inaccurately suggests that the seg fault concerns only AWS STS use cases (while the STS credentials mode should not matter, this issue being directly related to scenarios where CloudStorage and Restic are used together):
[IMPORTANT] ==== Restic is not supported in the OADP on ROSA with AWS STS environment. Ensure the Restic service is disabled. Use native snapshots to backup volumes. See _Known Issues_ for more information.
