1. Proposed title of this feature request
Improvements to Telco 5G RAN QE Validated Reference
2. What is the nature and description of the request?
A "Telco 5G RAN QE Validated Reference" is currently produced for each release, e.g. OCP 4.12 & OCP 4.13.
This RFE is requesting various improvements to what is already being produced:
- Provide a version of the Telco 5G RAN QE Validated Reference that is shareable with Telco partners as the current versions are privacy marked "Red Hat Internal Use Only"
- Explicitly document the list of operators that are included in the RAN reference profiles (DU, CU, SNO, MNO). The existing slides contain some details but there is possible ambiguity that could be avoided by having an explicitly documented list. E.g.
- Explicitly document all the KPI thresholds/targets, e.g. OSLAT of 20us. Currently these are documented in the QE KPI report but not in the Telco 5G RAN QE Validated Reference slides/documentation.
- Explicitly document maximum CPU, RAM and disk usage
- CPU is communicated to partners for SNO as 4 vCPUs (2 physical cores with HyperThreading) but is not explicitly documented in the Telco 5G RAN QE Validated Reference slides/documentation.
- In order to appropriately dimension their hardware BoMs, partners also require details of the maximum amount of RAM that will be consumed by the CaaS platform (just like we provide maximum CPU requirements)
- In order to appropriately dimension their hardware BoMs, partners also require details of the maximum amount of disk space that will be consumed by the CaaS platform (just like we provide maximum CPU requirements)
- If disk usage is variable (e.g. because size of logs are variable) then maximum disk usage required for static components (e.g. for installing all the required software components/operators/etc) should be provided along with guidance for how to calculate/dimension disk space for variable components (e.g. logs).
3. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
Telco partners are expected to align with the Telco 5G RAN QE Validated Reference but are not currently able to review it for themselves as it is for "Red Hat Internal Use Only"
Telco Partners require maximum CPU, RAM and disk usage by the CaaS platform components of the Telco 5G RAN QE Validated Reference in order to appropriately dimension their hardware BoMs and ensure sufficient resources are included in thei hardware BoMs for both the CaaS platform and the partner's workloads.
4. List any affected packages or components.
