1. Proposed title of this feature request
ZTP Siteconfig enabling node's labeling
2. What is the nature and description of the request?
Using ZTP and Siteconfigs for deployment. When you define the site/cluster you can add some global labels for the site/cluster. Also, you can define 1 role for each node. This only one role is more about assigning workers and masters.
Additionally, each node would be assigned with different labels (or roles). So, in the time of the deployment each node is configured with these labels (or roles).
This give us a lot of flexibility about configuring the cluster on day-0. With the nodes labeled during installation, performance profiles and machineconfigs can be applied to these labels. Currently, only the ones for workers and nodes are allowed. But our partners configure nodes with other different roles.
Working on day-0 avoids later reboots. And it results on a cluster much more ready to receive workloads as soon as it is deployed.
3. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
Our partner works with different roles, a part from master/worker. They create different performance profiles and machine configs for these roles. Now, they have to apply all these tuning after the cluster is deployed on day-1/day-2. It takes longer times and it needs more reboots.
To have less reboots is something really important for them.
They are now starting to work deeper about Zero Touch Provisioning, and want to go further. They dont see why they cannot have the cluster much more configured on day-0
4. List any affected packages or components.
ztp-site-generate and assisted-service.
